Eric Jay Dolin, bestselling author of Black Flags, Blue Waters and Brilliant Beacons: A History of the American Lighthouse, among a catalogue of 12 other titles, joins Historic Beverly online Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 7:00pm for a discussion of his most recent book, A Furious Sky: The Five Hundred Year History of America’s Hurricanes.
With A Furious Sky, Dolin has created a vivid, sprawling account of our encounters with hurricanes, from the nameless storms that threatened explorers during the Age of Exploration to the destruction wrought in Puerto Rico by Hurricane Maria.
Weaving a story of shipwrecks and devastated cities, of heroism and folly, Dolin introduces a rich cast of unlikely heroes in this necessary work of environmental and cultural history.
A Furious Sky will change the way we understand the storms on the horizon of America’s future.
