ABOUT ANNE Anne B.
Gass is the author of a nonfiction book about her great-grandmother, Voting Down the Rose: Florence Brooks Whitehouse and Maine’s Fight for Woman Suffrage, published in 2014.
In 2021 she published We Demand: The Suffrage Road Trip, a novel based on the true story of an epic cross-country road trip for suffrage that took place in 1915.
Gass is a frequent speaker on women’s rights history.
Gass is the Maine Coordinator for the National Votes for Women Trail and under their auspices recently completed a project to install seven roadside markers honoring suffragists around Maine.
Since 2019 she has served as an appointed member of Maine’s Permanent Commission on the Status of Women, where she leads their Program Committee.
Her writing is inspired and informed by her activism.
