Children’s Author Matt Tavares to read from his children’s books, illustrate, sign and sell books. Tavares is the author of Zachary’s Ball, which won an Oppenheim Gold Seal Award, a Massachusetts Book Award honor, and was named one of Yankee Magazine's 40 classic New England children’s books.

Tavares was the author-illustrator of Mudball and Oliver’s Game; and the illustrator of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, attributed to Anonymous; Jack and the Beanstalk, written by E. Nesbit; and Iron Hans: A Grimms’ Fairy Tale, retold by Stephen Mitchell.

The public is invited to tour the home Thursdays through Sundays between Sept. 4 and 21. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door for tours and/or events. All of the money raised through the purchase of tickets will go to the Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps, a leader in children’s welfare, juvenile justice, advocacy and treatment for children and families in Massachusetts. Services include educational, residential treatment, and community-based programs, which support, educate, and rehabilitate children, helping them to grow into healthy and productive adult members of their communities. Special events will be held throughout the month. Door prizes will be awarded daily.
