Tourism Organization, Pacific Asia Travel Association, United States Tour Operators. Featuring kayak and scuba diving lessons, a golf driving range, cultural performances, live animal deomnstrations, and the best travel deals in New England, the 2nd Annual Boston Globe Travel Show offers something for everyone March 23-25 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.

From Alaska to Africa, more than 200 exhibitors will showcase travel destinations from around the world and offer an array of escapes from everyday life. Special show travel deals will be available for those looking to book their next vacation, with exhibitors readily available to help research, plan, and book dream getaways.

The Travel Show will be open to the public on Saturday, March 24 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and on Sunday, March 25 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tickets for the show are $10 and available at the show or in advance at www.boston.com/travelshow. Friday, March 23 is Trade Day and open only to travel professionals.

The Boston Globe Travel Show is the perfect weekend excursion for the entire family with ongoing demonstrations, cultural performances and interactive activities including:

· Seaworld & Busch Gardens Family Adventure Area, showcasing exotic and endangered animals such as reptiles, birds and mammals. Children and adults alike will be amused by educational animal presentations, interactive games and entertainment.

· The Scuba Tour Pool travels around North America to introduce people to scuba diving. The company will be at the show, offering scuba diving lessons for adults and children over 10 in their 18,000 gallon scuba pool. All equipment will be provided and more information can be found at www.thescubatour.com.

· Kayak Lessons from H2Outfitters - H2Outfitters will bring their 32’ x 17’ pool and perform scheduled demonstrations of kayak skills as well as offering show attendees lessons on the Eskimo Roll, one of the hardest kayak skills. The organization will also offer relay races for children in the pool as well as ongoing contests.

· Stage Presentations throughout the weekend at the Travel Show will feature a host of cultural performances and demonstrations, including The Colloquials from New Brunswick, Salsa dancers from Puerto Rico, Miramichi Kitchen Party, Aruban music, singer-songwriter Jessica Rhaye, “The Dance of a Thousand Hands” presented by Indonesia and much more.

In addition to the activities above, the Boston Globe Travel Show will feature a wide variety of travel seminars and presentations throughout the weekend. Arthur Frommer, a well-recognized authority on budget travel, and his daughter author Pauline Frommer will present two seminars on Saturday, March 24, at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Peter Greenberg, travel editor for NBC’s Today Show, will present two seminars on Sunday, March 25 at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Other travel seminars will cover cruising, Disney, gay travel, travel throughout New England, castle hopping in Europe, women’s travel, and cultural travel.

Apply for a passport at the Boston Globe Travel Show

The United States Postal Service will be onsite at the Boston Globe Travel Show to accept passport applications and take passport photos. Show attendees who are interested in renewing their passport should bring their old passport to the show. For new applications, show attendees must bring proof of U.S. Citizenship (certified U.S. Birth Certificate / Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization), as well as proof of identity such as a valid driver’s license or government issued ID. Passport fees are $67.00 and must be paid with a personal check. Passport photos are available for $15. Passport applications take six to eight weeks to process, however they can be expedited for additional fees.

Attendees at the Travel Show have the opportunity to enter to win a variety of trips and getaways from vendors at the show. Some of the featured opportunities include: Five nights accommodations for two at the Jalousie Plantation Resort in St. Lucia, seven-night stay at the Divi Little Bay Resort In St. Maarten, a trip to Italy from Club ABC, Berkshire Spa Getaway from Cranwell Resort & Spa, four-night stay at Point Pleasant Inn & Resort in Bristol, RI, and many, many more.

About The Show

Established in 2006, the Boston Globe Travel show was created to bring together the New England travel community and the New England traveler. The show is open to the trade exclusively on Friday, March 23, and to the public on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25. More than 200 exhibitors are expected to be in attendance at the show.
