This gift was in commemoration of the 100-year anniversary of the gift of cherry trees from Japan to Washington DC as a gesture of goodwill and friendship.
The Genki Spark and the Brookline High School Japanese Program have worked together on this dynamic Japanese festival which draws audiences from as far away as Canada to Western MA, from Rhode Island to Newburyport.
Loud and thunderous, in addition to food, games, and music, the festival's artistic draw is the region's only public taiko drumming showcase featuring taiko groups throughout New England.

12:00 PM- Festival Opening, The Genki Spark (taiko, Boston, MA)
12:30 PM- Odaiko New England (taiko, Woburn, MA)
1:00 PM- Takahashi Minyo Kai, (dance, Newburyport, MA), Bon Odori (festival dancing), Little Kids Academy (singing)
2:00 PM- Mountain River Taiko (taiko, Western, MA), ShinDaiko (taiko, Concord, MA), Shishi Mai (lion) by Stuart Paton, Burlington Taiko Group (taiko, Burlington, VT)
3:00 PM- Artistic Finale: The Genki Spark (taiko) and Finale including all artists'

Admissions is a suggested donation of $5 for students, and $10-$20/family. All proceeds support the BHS Japanese Exchange Program Scholarship Fund and promotion of Japanese arts in New England.
