Save April 29th from 4-5:30 pm for the 3rd Annual “Chai Tea” Fundraiser, benefiting the Jewish Community Center Early Learning Center, located at Congregation Beth Elohim, 133 Prospect Street, Acton. Sip tea from fine china and enjoy pastries in a “Pops”-style setting while listening to live jazz from the John Payne School of Music.

John Clippinger is a high school science teacher who has been playing classical and jazz flute and saxophone for 30 years. During the last 20 years, he has played with the Longy School of Music Big Band, been in the pit of 10 high school musicals, participated yearly at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, and has become a regular in the John Payne School of Music for adults.

Matthew Belamarich has been playing jazz guitar in various performance configurations including small groups and big bands for almost 30 years. Major influences include Pat Metheny and Mike Stern. Matthew currently plays in a John Payne Music Center ensemble led by his friend and mentor Shimon Ben-Shir. He has passed his electric guitar genes on to his 14 year old daughter, Julia.

Steve Burr is a Watertown-based jazz pianist who began playing a year and a half ago after dabbling with the guitar for more than 10 years. Inspired by modern jazz pianists such as Brad Mehldau, Robert Glasper, and Kevin Hays, Steve decided to study piano and has since performed at Ryles Jazz Club and Les Zygomates in Boston, and has played with several ensembles at the John Payne School of Music.
