Each diver is required to perform a minimum of four different takeoff directions (out of five) per stop, highlighting more diversity of the dives and rewarding more well-rounded athletes.
In addition, a Best Dive Award has been added at each stop presented to the athlete with the highest judges score, with the winner receiving an additional 10 points towards the final standings of the World Series.
The Red Bull Cliff Diving competition is in its seventh season, and will be visiting Boston for its 3rd consecutive season.
Event Viewing:
The entire event site will be open for viewing, but we encourage spectators to arrive early to secure the best vantage point
A centralized jumbotron will be placed within the venue to ensure the best views possible
A full live show will accompany the competition with music, interviews, and other entertainment
The ICA, famous for its architecturally interesting building and cutting-edge contemporary art, offers a dramatic backdrop for these visionary divers as they showcase their own take on “performance art”: spiraling, tumbling, and flipping mid-air, in sync with the cheering of sports-mad fans below.
The super athletes will compete head-to-head for a shot at the prestigious Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series title, completing two required and two optional dives.
The five international judges, including four-time Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis, will award them scores from 0 to 10 based on the various aspects of the dive, the adherence to predetermined diving requirements, and the splash-less finish.
The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series stop will be free and open to the public and will feature extraordinary dives, a live emcee, jumbo screens for viewing, and premium vending.
Public areas will be stationed along Fan Pier, and the ICA will extend its hours, remaining open to the public until 9 pm that evening.
