Enter the Endangered Species Day Coloring & Writing Contest!
Do you know Stone Zoo is home to a number of endangered species including jaguars, Mexican gray wolves, Panamanian golden frogs, hyacinth macaws and others? Draw a picture of your favorite endangered species or write a short piece about the animal, detailing why they are endangered or what you can do to help.
Entries will be accepted through May 20. The winners of each age group will be contacted and announced on Sunday, May 22, and will receive a certificate of recognition and the honor of having their work framed and displayed in Stone Zoo’s Animal Discovery Center! Endangered Species Day is May 20, 2011.
Who can enter?
Kids ages 3-10
Pictures and writing will be judged in three age categories:
ages 3-4, ages 5-7, and ages 8-10
The Rules
• Submissions must be on standard 8 1/2 x 11 inch (letter size) paper.
• Pictures may be done in pencil, crayon or marker - NO chalk, paint, glue or computer illustrations please. Writing can be either typed or neatly hand-written.
• Pictures must include your favorite endangered species; written pieces may be in the form of short paragraphs, poems, etc. – be creative!
• Entries will be accepted in the Stone Zoo Animal Discovery Center no later than 4:00 p.m. on May 20, 2011. Entry forms are available in the Animal Discovery Center.
• One entry per person.
