Join Dr. Joan Kleypas, National Center for Atmospheric Research for a free discussion on Coral Reefs in Danger at the Harborside Learning Lab at the New England Aquarium.

Joan Kleypas is a marine ecologist/geologist that specializes in the interactions between coral reef ecosystems and climate. She completed her doctorate in Tropical Marine Studies at the James Cook University of North Queensland in Australia. Her work examined the environmental factors governing reef growth in the Southern Great Barrier Reef.

She now focuses on how coral reefs and other marine ecosystems are affected by environmental changes associated with global climate change, such as increases in sea surface temperature and ocean acidification.
