It’s show time for the NewStage Dance Company May 3 and 4 at the Arlington Center for the Arts!

Share the exciting journey of what it takes to create a performance all the way from the nerve-wracking auditions to the thrill of the standing ovation in '5, 6, 7, 8: A Dancer’s Journey.'

Join this group of talented women as they invite you to share the exciting journey of what it takes to create a performance all the way from the nerve-wracking auditions to the thrill of the standing ovation in their upcoming show, '5, 6, 7, 8: A Dancer’s Journey.'

'5, 6, 7, 8: A Dancer’s Journey' is an accurate portrayal of what it’s really like in the demanding and competitive world of dance.

The first act begins as a rehearsal where the dancers are learning choreography for different styles of dance from hip hop and jazz to tap and ballet.

As the show progresses, the routines get bigger and more perfected as the group prepares for the final performance.

Shows are Friday May 3 at 7:30 pm and Saturday May 4 at 3 pm and 7:30 pm.

Tickets are $15 and may be purchased through www.brownpapertickets.com or at the door.

Seating is open but limited.

NewStage Dance Company is made up of Boston-area women who range in age from their late 20s into their 50s and come from all walks of life.

Founded by lifelong dancer Wendy Costello, NewStage Dance Company was born out of the Lexington Women’s Dance Ensemble in 2006.

Since then, the group has grown to 12 company dancers with additional ensemble members added when they are preparing for a show.

NewStage runs on the belief that you’re never too old to give up your passion for dance, performance, and the ability to share it on the stage.

The Arlington Center for the Arts is located at 41 Foster Street.

The best way to enter the theater is via the parking lot, located between Tuft Street and Foster Street.
