The concert features works by BYM artistic directors Jeannette Neill and Jim Viera, BYM faculty member Nikki Sell, and guest artists from The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Cirque du Soleil.

Alvin Ailey soloist Kirven Douthit-Boyd was BYM’s artist-in-residence in the fall, teaching master classes and choreographing “Beat” a new work for the BYM senior-level dancers.

The dance club-inspired contemporary piece showcases the youthful energy of the all-girl cast and will be a highlight of the March concert.

The performance also will include a new work by Stephanie Hilton, BYM’s January artist-in-residence.

Hilton has danced for Thodos Dance Chicago, Giordano Dance Chicago, and Cirque du Soleil, among others.

Her contemporary piece examines themes of connectedness and loneliness, using physical and emotional opposition.

Both Hilton and Ailey’s Douthit-Boyd are BYM alumni.
The Boston Youth Moves Dance Company Concert will be held at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 14 and 15 at Boston University’s Dance Theater, 915 Commonwealth Ave.

Saturday evening’s performance will be followed by BYM’s annual Champagne Reception fundraising event.
