Variations on Make Way for Ducklings Ballet
Young audience members are invited to meet the Mallards and other characters from the ballet following the performance at an “UnCommon Afternoon Reception” with treats of the era including balloons and cotton candy, all included in the ticket price.
The ballet is suitable for all children as well as adults who have fond memories of the classic book and its characters.
Inspired by Robert McCloskey’s award-winning popular book Make Way for Ducklings, the ballet takes you on an imaginative adventure that traces the now familiar journey of Mr. and Mrs. Mallard and their family of ducklings from their quiet nest on the Charles River to their new home in the Boston Public Garden.
Dance Prism’s full length ballet tells “the rest of the story” of Mr. and Mrs. Mallard’s adventures, their hero Michael the Policeman, plus the many other events of life in this wartime era of Boston.
The ballet features familiar music of the period plus colorful costumes and scenery that will take you back to the Charles River, Boston Public Garden, the streets of Boston and includes soldiers, sailors, shoppers, street vendors, swing dancers and boys playing baseball on the Commons.
In the Public Garden, watch a proud flock of swans dance the tango and a bed of spring tulips waltz to the ringing of church bells.
Dance Prism promises you an un-common afternoon of dance enjoyment.
