What is contra dancing?!
It is a type of folk dance, similar to square dance, except instead of being in squares, dancers are organized in lines of couples.
All dances and moves are taught and explained by the 'caller' beforehand, which makes it an extremely newcomer friendly genre of dancing.
The music is drawn from traditional New England, old time, Irish, or Quebecois fiddle tunes, among other things!
