Visitors of all ages will be inspired by the extraordinary characters, puppets, worlds, and stories created from otherwise ordinary materials in this exhibition featuring: mystical hand puppets and magical book illustrations of Ashley Bryan; the larger-than-life paper mache characters of The Bread & Puppet Theatre; an interactive theatre marionette stage set by painters Donald Saaf & Julia Zanes; Jeff Sias's contemporary toy theatre along with miniature paper toy theatres and Indian shadow puppets from the Ballard Institute & Museum of Puppetry. All are welcome to come see, create, and perform your own stories!
M-F 9-5; Sat & Sun 1-5pm.
May 15 & 16: 12-6pm.
General admission to the gallery is free. On May 1st a Puppet Festival Extravaganza will cost $5 Children & Youth; $10 Adults.

The New Art Center is located at 61 Washington Park off of Walnut Street in Newtonville, MA. We are very close to exit 17 off the Mass Pike. For detailed directions from all point please visit www.newartcenter.org

Extraordinary VisitIt is worth a trip to the New Arts Center in Newtonville to enjoy this exhibit. In addition to viewing beautiful and varied puppets in all shapes, sizes, and styles, there are phenomenal arts supplies available so that you can make your own. There is also a puppet theater you can use and a screen for using shadow puppets. I went with my 4 year old daughter and we had a great afternoon -- checking out the different materials used, crafting our own puppet, and performing puppet shows for one another. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!!!
