Red-Panda Hay Sculpture at Franklin Park Zoo
Guests will stand in amazement as they get up close and personal with a two-ton, 15-foot tall red panda sculpture made entirely of hay! The massive hay sculpture will be on display for public viewing now through mid-October.
• The red panda hay sculpture was designed by Killington, VT artist January Meyer.
• The sculpture is comprised of five round bales of hay and two dozen square bales of hay!
• Weighing in at nearly two tons, the sculpture is 30 feet long and 15 feet high.
• The sculpture took two landscape artists and two Zoo staff members approximately six hours to create!
Killington Hay Festival organizers created this gigantic monument for the enjoyment of local animal lovers and to celebrate the start Killington’s annual hay festival, running through Columbus Day weekend in the Vermont resort town. Each year, the Killington Hay Festival creates its own exotic “zoo” attraction of 40 hay animals.
