Hundreds of artifacts — including body casts of the volcano's victims — bring to light the vibrancy of this bustling resort town, but the darkening skies ahead and violent sounds of Vesuvius spewing ash and debris signal imminent danger.
This temporary exhibit features more than 250 artifacts from the ancient Roman city buried under ash for 1,700 years. Artifacts include 13 wall-sized frescoes, gold jewelry, frying pans and carbonized bread.

Skimpy info for kids
Amazing collection of artifacts, but I found the signage and background infoskimpy for a kid (I went in while the rest of my family did the museum.) There's some interesting hands-on stuff at the end, but if you are going to invest in a ticket, I advise letting your kids read up on Pompeii first, or watch a movie about it -- I found some good ones streaming on Netflix.RELATED LINKS | ↑ top |
