Kids and adults alike will be fascinated by the history, the significance, and the fun of these tethered aircraft in three amazing exhibits: “Kites to Kitty Hawk: The Origin of Flight”, “The Rise of the Roloplan: The Kite Designs of Richard Steiff”, and “A Second Wind: Contemporary Kites.”
There are plenty of hands-on kite making and kite flying activities for all ages, including making a kite to be strung together with others in one huge community kite to be flown in the spring.
Also hands-on explorationi of air currents and the principles of flight, as well as a computerized kite simulator to explore different kite designs and see how they would fly.
