Opening Reception for Dwelling: Memory Architecture & Place
The afternoon features performances from The Water Project, a powerful blend of ritual, myth, visual art and dance created by Michael Dowling (artist and director of Medicine Wheel) and Christine Bennett (artistic director of Christine Bennett Dance Co.) and a guided tour of the exhibition with scholar Elise Ciregna.
Opened in 1848, Forest Hills Cemetery's grand romantic landscape was designed to bring together the living and the dead, the past and the present, the familiar and the unknown. In this contemporary sculpture exhibition, fifteen artists reinterpret the Victorian concept of the cemetery as a final home and a place for lingering reflection.
