WEARABLE ART 2013 – MassArt Fashions at Copley Place
In conjunction with the exhibit, MassArt fashion designs will parade on a center court runway during Boston Fashion Week on October 2 where alumni designs will be an added feature of the showcase.
Copley Place is the premier retail location in Boston with international patrons.
This fall, nestled around center court, twenty-three ensembles created by the students from MassArt’s Fashion Design Department will be on display during the scheduled fashion festivities in Boston.
“I was delighted to again bring this year’s Wearable Art exhibit to Copley Place” states Jayne Avery, associate professor in fashion at MassArt and curator of the exhibit.
“Simon Mall has supported our exhibit each year and to showcase our students’ work in Copley Place, just blocks away from our campus, is exciting for the entire MassArt community.”
Mall patrons will view MassArt’s popular non-textile creations that illustrate ingenuity using unconventional materials such as mini window blinds, synthetic hair, twist ties, film, and more.
For Wearable Art 2013 the message is about cutting edge design including contemporary ready-to-wear and red carpet gowns.
“I looked for designs that would show the intricacy of construction, shaping, and form --designs that would capture the viewer as they got closer to the exhibit.
Such an up close view of these spectacular pieces – what a perfect way to experience fashion,” says Professor Avery.
