For the many dogs that enter shelters in the U.S. each year an innovative DNA test and coast-to-coast tour are aiming to help them find forever homes.
Wisdom Panel®, an established name in canine genetic testing, has taken its newest test, DogTrax™ on the road in 2014 to swab the DNA of shelter dogs in a bid to find them forever homes at events around the country.
Celebrity pet expert and dog trainer, Harrison Forbes, has partnered up with Wisdom Panel to bring a “Swab-a-thon” tour event to the Plymouth, Mass Amazing Pet Expo (THIS SATURDAY) to help local shelter dogs find loving homes.
The mission of the Wisdom Panel “Swab-a-thon” tour is to find homes for shelter dogs across the country by showing that genetic information will give potential adopters the tools to help them make better decisions.
The tour is also educating existing dog owners about how an understanding of their dog’s genetics can help them be better pet parents.
Event visitors can meet shelter dogs that have already been tested to learn more about their genetic background and determine if one of these dogs would be a compatible fit for their home.
Existing dog owners can bring their dogs to the Wisdom Panel booth to get them swabbed using the ‘Wisdom Panel 2.0’ test on-site for a special price of $30 (MSRP: $80).
For every ten dogs swabbed at “Swab-a-thon” events, Wisdom Panel will donate one DogTrax individual DNA test kit to a local shelter to help them find a dog a forever home.
Dog owners will be emailed an official Ancestry Report revealing their dog’s genetic background to help them better understand behavior questions and be better informed to strengthen their relationship with their dog and take better care of his health.
