In honor of the 175th Anniversary of Mount Auburn Cemetery, the nation’s first garden cemetery, the Vose Galleries of Boston will hold an exhibition of paintings by artists buried or cremated at Mount Auburn Cemetery. The works include artists such as Olive Parker Black, Sidney Lawrence Brackett, George L. Noyes, R.H. Ives Gammell, Susan Ricker Knox, Nelly Littlehale Murphy and Hermann Dudley Murphy among others.

The exhibition will take place at Vose Galleries between February 1 and March 8, 2007.

Mount Auburn Cemetery is celebrating its 175th Anniversary with a year of lectures, musical performances, and other events at the Cemetery and around Boston. Please call 617-607-1995 or visit www.mountauburn.org for further information. Mount Auburn Cemetery is the final resting place of many famous and important historical figures, including Charles Bulfinch, Mary Baker Eddy, Isabella Stewart Gardner, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Winslow Homer, Thomas Wilmer Dewing and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, to name a few. 175 years into its mission, Mount Auburn Cemetery remains an active cemetery and a place of comfort and inspiration for the 200,000 people who visit it annually.
