Textile Weekend at OSV
Each year, Old Sturbridge Village explores a different aspect of 19th century textiles.
This year’s theme is quilts.
See a variety of handmade artifact and reproduction quilts and quilted items such as petticoats, hoods, pockets, and bed quilts.
Watch demonstrations of quilting techniques such as piecing from the early 19th century New England up close.
Piecing is the process of cutting and sewing small pieces of fabric together to create a decorative pattern.
Learn how to do paper piecing for a hexagonal quilt.
Attend a gallery talks such as 'Practical and Pleasing: Quilting in the 19th Century' and 'Piecing it all Together: A Timeline of New England's Early Quilts.' This weekend is a great opportunity to learn the history of quilts and quilt making and perhaps be inspired with quilt designs to incorporate in modern projects!
General admission is $28 Adults, $26 Seniors (55+), $14 Youths (3-17), Children 2 and Under FREE, and Woo card discounts are available
