Join us for an Evening Sculptural Installation Walk
5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Touchstone Community School, 54 Leland Street, Grafton, MA Free and open to the public!
This fall, the entire school participated in constructing a large sculptural installation entitled Thresholds.
Touchstone's first foray into large scale, school-wide, installation art revolves around the idea of liminal space - the space that exists between two states of being.
Every student at TCS is part of the project, from the Nest to the OSP.
This installation consists of an outdoor guided path around and through door frames, doorways, doors, and banners, which mark off space.
Each of these spaces represent, abstractly, a particularly liminal space - seasons, rituals, the space of the imagination, the space of dreaming.
Some classes worked on creating flowering vines to drape over a door frame; some worked on doors that will have poetry on one side and different emotional states on the other.
Some worked on banners that represent seasons and others that represent rituals.
Still other classes worked on doorways that represent social rituals.
We hope you can join us for the outdoor interactive art installation!
