Fruitlands Museum has been hosting programs that explore the novel, as well as some of the childhood experiences that inspired Louisa May Alcott, who lived in the Fruitlands farmhouse in 1843 at the age of ten. The Farmhouse attic is said to have been a major inspiration for the attic in her novel!
Fruitlands plans to continue the Little Women themed programs through the spring and summer and currently is running a special exhibition with paintings and drawings by May Alcott Nieriker, Louisa’s little sister and the inspiration for the character Amy.
The exhibit includes behind the scenes photos from the film being shot on location at Trustees properties.
A beautiful overview of all the Massachusetts filming locations was put together by our friends at the MA Film Office, and can be found here.
