bookMARKED: A Mail Art Exhibit
The project sought mail/postal art for the following:
Call for mail art representing a book that has impacted you!
We’ve all read books – some we’ve loved and some, well, we haven’t.
Whether you read it because a teacher assigned it or read it simply for pleasure or curiosity, what’s a book that has made an impression in your life?
“Mail art” or “postal art” is an artistic movement centered on sending small-scale works through the postal service.
Anyone – from children to adults – was encouraged to participate; no “artistic” experience necessary.
Since then, approximately 75 entries have been received, many from outside of the United States.
While many are cataloged on Instagram (instagram.com/bookmarked01776), the entire collection can be viewed in front of the Sara Sherman NOW Lab, on Goodnow’s second floor.
Patrons of all ages are invited to come view this interactive exhibit as well as leave a note in the guest book.
