The Wisdom Exchange Project invites the Boston community to reflect and exchange letters of personal wisdom and together create ceramic vessels to contain that wisdom.
It is inspired by the 75th anniversary of the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, which were ancient texts that were themselves preserved in ceramic jars for nearly 2 millenia.
Living with the COVID-19 pandemic has caused many to reflect on what we hold most important.
The Wisdom Project has engaged over a hundred and thirty people from ages 6 to 96.
Participants have come from organizations such as 2Life, Camp Yavneh, the Jewish Community Day School, the Brookline Art Center, and Temple Beth David.
The Brookline and Boston communities are invited to the Wisdom Release Happening: An Outdoor Closing Showcase at the Annex Gallery on Sunday, 5/22 from 1:00 - 2:30 PM.
This will be an interactive sharing of multiple communities’ letters of wisdom.
It will feature music played by Nat Seelen’s Wisdom Ensemble.
The installation can be viewed from 1 to 1:30 and will then be de-installed in a special closing ceremony at 1:30 when project participants who are present will receive their Wisdom Vessels.
All are invited to visit the Brookline Art Center to experience the installation of audio letters, ceramic wisdom vessels, and a documentary of the process by filmmaker Olivia Huang.
The installation is on view now through 5/22 between 9 am - 5 pm at the Brookline Art Center’s Annex Gallery 86 Monmouth St. Brookline 02446.
