How do you talk to your children about the hard choices they face? About what to do when they encounter differences, prejudice, or exclusion? These are some of the hardest conversations to begin. Facing History's Choosing to Participate exhibit offers unique opportunities for families with children in grades K-6 to engage in activities, storytelling and conversations about respect and tolerance.
Choosing to Participate is a project of Facing History and Ourselves, an international educational and professional development organization whose mission is to engage students of diverse backgrounds in an examination of racism, prejudice, and antisemitism in order to promote the development of a more humane and informed citizenry. By studying the historical development lessons of the Holocaust and other examples of genocide, students make the essential connection between history and the moral choices they confront in their own lives.
