Avery has MANY MANY challenges & needs and a SMILE that warms your HEART and that of his parents and 3 incredible siblings!
Joe and Grace Austin of Easton, parents of 2-year-old Avery, report that their family has received much support since last week’s Enterprise story about their application to ABC-TV’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” The Austins are hoping the show will update their 90-year-old Easton residence to make it easier for them to care for Avery, who is severely disabled. Meanwhile, thanks to Jerry and Diana Haley of Spring, Texas, the Austins now have a wheelchair van in which to transport their son. The Haleys, formerly of Duxbury, donated a van used by their son, Gerald P. Haley Jr., who died in May in New Hampshire at age 41 of complications from a brain tumor, leaving a wife and three young children. The Haleys stipulated that they wanted the Austins to continue with their “Wheels for Avery” fundraiser, to be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at The Fellowship Church, Foundry Street, Route 106, Easton, with a silent auction, live music, a moon walk and a reptile petting zoo. Proceeds will serve as a “spare tire” fund for the family, helping with van maintenance, the purchase of a backup generator for their home and other expenses, Grace Austin said. “We want our community to know how appreciative we are for what God has done and for this family and their generous gift,” she said. ..
