Thousands of members of JGI’s youth program, Roots & Shoots, are expected to come together to celebrate the International Day of Peace. In Boston, the event will take place on Sunday, September 19 from 1 PM – 5 PM at the Jamaica Pond Boathouse (corner of Jamaica Way and Pond St.) in Jamaica Plain, Mass.

This year’s event in Jamaica Plain, Mass. will feature creating video pledges for peace, a peace photo scavenger hunt, making peace dove puppets to fly in our Day of Peace procession around the pond and signing the Martin Luther King Jr. Pledge of Nonviolence. Participants will be joined by Talia Rivera, the co-founder and Executive Director of Villages Without Walls, who will share a few words about her life and her hope for tomorrow.
Almost 150,000 members of Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots program, who hale from more than 120 countries, will take part in Day of Peace festivities. Boston is one of four locations (Chicago, Santa Fe, and Los Angeles) hosting a major event in the United States.
