Ever wanted to have luxuries of living on a farm- food grown freshly from your own soil and raw, roving-natural Shetland wool at your disposal-but without all of the chores, like hauling bales of hay? Now is your chance!
Join Smolak Farms in North Andover, MA for their first annual Family Farm Festival! On Saturday, June 18th, 2011 from 9:00AM to 4:00PM celebrate with a day in the country while getting a first-hand look at the great all natural, hand-made products that come straight from the farm!
Held rain or shine, snuggle up to the cuddly farm animals such as goats, Cormo sheep, chickens, bunnies and alpacas. Children will be able to hold and play with the animals while they are educated on how their new furry friends contribute to farm life!
Guests can enjoy fun farm activities including: milking a goat, spinning wool, and planting herbs in their very own planter box! Take apart of the farm home and don’t forget to roam the special selections of yarn, goat’s milk soap, sculptures, or knits from Smolak’s all natural fiber vendors (full list of activities and vendors below).
Activity Highlights Include:
Sheep and sheep shearing, learn about their wool, and how to spin it. In addition, children can enjoy making their own little sheep out of the natural fiber.
Planting a decorative planter. Make your own beautiful planter to adorn your steps or deck with the help of a garden expert.
If you have ever wanted to meet, touch and learn about Alpacas, now is the chance! Their fleece is milled into yarns and the products from them are incredible!
Learn all about custom furniture! The finest furniture and cabinets made from raw materials.
Strawberry fields! Our strawberries are ready and ripe. Head down to our patch and pick some to bring home!
Herb garden right at your finger tips. Take some of your favorite herbs and learn how to create your own dish garden!
Yarn for you to knit your own creation or a beautiful handmade product ready to go! There will be many colors and creations to choose from.
Snuggle a bunny! Yes, that is right, pick them up snuggle one for yourself and have the opportunity to bring one home!
