The first Festival was held at the J.F. Kennedy Civic Center in downtown Lowell, MA. It was a great success and received favorable reviews from both the Lowell Sun and the Boston Globe.
It has continued as an annual event featuring performing arts, as well as traditional and modern African arts and crafts.
