The PMPM opens its doors to the public to experience the illumination of more than 3,100 “landing lights” in 19 strands draped from top to bottom on the historic 252-foot all-granite structure, a beacon for travelers and residents throughout the Cape.
The Monument will stay lit until January 6, 2017 to represent the five weeks the Pilgrims spent in Provincetown Harbor on board the Mayflower before sailing to Plymouth.
This year, the event will honor Coast Guard Station Provincetown and Officer in Charge James Zerinskas, who will ‘’flip the switch” at approximately 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Light refreshments and entertainment will be provided.
