Visitors will enjoy hands-on art activity stations, face painting, art playground, the Artisans Corner and more. There will also be free live performances and special demonstrations.
The Dong Fong Dance Troupe will present a program of Chinese dancing and the Trivini Dance School will perform dances in the Indian style.
This year, the Spring Arts Festival is proud to present the Found Art Project. Local artists have been invited to create a unique work of art using only found materials — to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. These pieces will be displayed and auctioned off in a silent auction at the festival. Proceeds will go toward PTA-sponsored programs at the Hadley School.
Last year’s community art project, the Artful Buoys, proved so popular that they have been transformed into a handsome set of note cards which will be available for sale at the festival.
Tickets are available on the day of the festival at a cost of $1 each, with most activities costing one or two tickets. Visitors may also become a “Patron of the Arts” for a single payment of $25 for the whole family and enjoy access to activities throughout the festival. Pizza, hot dogs, ice cream, drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. Performances and demonstrations are free and open to the public.
Festival weekend will kick off Friday evening, June 1, with student performances and classic cartoons under the tent in Linscott Park. Snacks, beverages and pizza will be available for purchase at the park. Last year’s Friday night event was a big success, and this year promises to be even more exciting, organizers say.
The Hadley Spring Arts Festival is a yearly celebration of the arts sponsored by the Hadley PTA and open to the community of Swampscott and the surrounding area.
