Its pretty special turning 100! So Newton Community Service Center, a private nonprofit human service agency in West Newton wants to share in celebrating this milestone with a huge party. We begin with an antique car parade then offer face painting, balloon sculpture, and music all day long. Performing at the event are Joanne Langione School of Dance, The Suburbanette’s and the Daylites, Newton All-City Honor Chorus Treble Singers, Alex Kurland’s Quartet, and the Tamias Ecuadorian Band.
The Newton Rotary Club will supply the hot dogs, and the Newton Kiwanis Club will serve up popcorn. In the middle of the afternoon, the public can enjoy birthday cake provided by the Boston Marriott Newton, topped by Cabot’s Ice Cream. The day winds down with a pops/swing concert with music from the Sharon Community Band and Roy Scott Big Band.
All events are free and will take place rain or shine at NCSC's main facility at 492 Waltham Street in West Newton. The birthday party is made possible in part by generous donations from the Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation and The Village Bank.
