Nestled on the docks of New Bedford’s colorful and historic waterfront, the rain-or-shine tented event features two stages of diverse jazz, local food trucks and a full bar, as well as the popular “Artists’ Colony,” a special section spotlighting local artisans and crafters.
Headlining this year’s JazzFest is Bria Skonberg, a trumpeter and vocalist hailed by Vanity Fair as a millennial “shaking up the jazz world.” A celebrated recording artist who has performed at some 100 festivals worldwide, Skonberg and her ensemble promise to shake up JazzFest as well.
Matthew Hartnett and the Gumbo All-Stars return to JazzFest, and once again, audience members will be dancing.
With roots in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Hartnett and the All-Stars will fill the tent with genre defying compositions influenced by Southern roots.
Perennial JazzFest favorites, the 17-piece Southcoast Jazz Orchestra returns to fill the classic seasidevenue with their classic big band sound.
Led by Bob Williamson, owner of Dartmouth’s Symphony Music Shop, the SJO features talented musicians from throughout the region.
Another new JazzFest act, the seven-piece Southcoast Brass Band is sure to get the audience moving with their high energy jazz and funk celebrating New Orleans street music traditions, with a New Bedford twist.
