The outdoor Festival will also feature more than 100 tables of information, crafts and Brazilian food. Some of the delicacies on sale at the park are: Churrasco, the famous Brazilian barbecue, feijoada, which dates back to the time of slavery when slaves developed a cuisine with the scraps from the table or leftovers from the masters’ previous day’s meal, and dishes from Bahia - such as vatapá, caruru, and sarapatel; among many other salgadinhos (Brazilian delicacies).
The Brazilian Independence Day Festival has become the largest gathering event of the Brazilian community in New England. The Festival is organized by a volunteer committee, with the support of the Consulate General of Brazil in Boston, the Brazilian Immigrant Center and the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers.
