The focal point of the Festival is the Art and Photography Exhibit 'Natural Wonders” at the Maple Hill Farm. Over one hundred regional artists are expected to exhibit their work this year. Most of the artwork is available for sale with a portion benefiting Beaver Brook's educational programming throughout the year. This year’s featured artist is Katrine Dickau of Hollis.
In addition to the art exhibit, there will be numerous activities for all ages.
Featured entertainment includes:
Story Telling with Purley Gates (Sept. 22 at 1:00 and 3:30),
Live animal presentation presented by Drumlin Farm Audubon Society (Sept. 22 at 2:00); Birdbath Workshop, create your own to take home (Sept. 22 from 3:00-5:00 *$20 materials fee);
“Nature’s Voice” with Tim Egmond (Sept. 23 at 1:00 and 3:00);
“Mushrooms and Forest Ecology” with Author Lawrence Millman (Sept. 23 1:00-4:00 *$20 fee);
“Scales and Skins: NH Reptiles and Amphibians” presented by NH Audubon (Sept.23 at 2:00);
Animals with Bad Reputations, a live animal presentation by Squam Lakes Science Center (Sept. 23 from 1:00-2:00);
“Tale” instrumental fiddle and guitar by artist Katrine Dickau and her husband, Perry (Sept. 29 from 2:30-5:00);
Animal and Tracks Prints Demonstration (Sept. 30 at 1:00);
“Northern American Birds of Prey” a live bird presentation by Wingmasters (Sept.30 at 1:00 and 3:00); Russell Hill Band Concert featuring original music in the flavor of James Taylor, Crosby Stills & Nash, Woody Gutherie and Johnny Cash (Sept.30 at 1:45)
Prior to the festival on Saturday Sept. 29 from 10:30 to 12 noon, Currier on the Move will be presenting a craft project “Forces of Nature in Art Workshop, for students in grade 4 and up. ( *$5 fee)
Ongoing activities include nature-based crafts to make and take in the children's nature loft, Bird Loft exhibits, apple pressing for cider, farmer's market booths, the sale of dried floral arrangements, herbs and refreshments by the Maple Hill Gardeners, animal tracks and prints, and Leave No Trace Environmental Ethics demonstration.
Beaver Brook Association (BBA ) is a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging conservation of natural resources through education and land stewardship.
