The Festival, which attracts more than 1.5 million people to the District, marks the beginning of spring in the Nation’s Capital.
At the heart of the Festival is the blooming of 3,000 cherry trees along the Tidal Basin, a gift celebrating international friendship and intercultural connection between Tokyo and Washington in 1912.
The bus will stop at HalfSmoke Baltimore for a family-friendly #ExperienceDC Cherry Blossom Pop-Up from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., including a DJ playing Go-go music, cherry blossom and DC tourism giveaways, cherry blossom-themed drinks featuring Blossom Beverages, and a workshop on creating paper cherry blossoms to bring home.
The pop-up will also feature interactive live art, created by artist, My Ly.
She will construct a cherry blossom art piece throughout the tour, with each petal representing and created in each city with community participation.
The Cherry Blossom Bus Tour will launch in Boston, then travel to New York City, Philadelphia, and Baltimore between February 26 and February 28.
The tour will culminate in Washington, DC at the National Cherry Blossom Festival and National Park Service’s official announcement of peak bloom dates on March 1.
