The Jewelry City Steampunk Festival, first launched in 2017, will return to Downtown Attleboro on April 29th.This unique free event celebrates the turn of the century industrial history that can be found throughout Southeastern Massachusetts through a kaleidoscopic lens of fantasy and whimsy.
The event runs from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
There will also be a separately ticketed Steampunk After-Party that begins at 6:00pm.
Steampunk is an artistic and literary style inspired by Victorian-era industrialism that embraces the “what-if” concept of the era’s history and fashion blended with the splendid possibilities offered by authors like H.G.
Wells and Jules Verne, as well as modern authors like K.W. Jeter and Phillip Pullman.
The festival will feature unique entertainment that ties in directly with the theme, including “tea duels” and “Splendid Teapot Racing”.
Musical acts will perform outdoors and at the various scheduled venues throughout the day and unique characters and personalities will interact with festival visitors.
The event will be held in multiple locations throughout the city and will offer both free and premium programming.
“We have a great entertainment Line-up in place already”, says Talya Lercari, the festival’s Executive Director.
“We are excited to bring back some old favorites as well as some new and exciting surprises!”.
Lercari goes on to say, “I am most excited about the special evening event we have planned that will feature the amazing Bourbon Street Jubilee”.
The festival will also offer premium entertainment with the purchase of an event button which will include an all-ages tea party with multiple seatings, special performances, classes, and panels throughout the day, and access to an all-points trolley that will shuttle attendees from venue to venue throughout the day.
Pricing for this program is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 4 to 14.
Children 3 and under can participate for free.
