Join us at the Boston Nature Center for a day of nature exploration, relaxation, and creativity.

Unwind on a meditation walk with Shawnta Carson and forage some natural goodies on the trails in a wild edibles trek with Kim Baker.

Explore your artistic side while making your own recycled paper and savor solar oven nachos and sun tea.

Come find your oasis in the city and explore the beautiful wildlife sanctuary and trails.

This festival will also include the following program taught by salvation burnette:

There's nothing more cheerful than a shiny red ladybug on a bright green leaf.

There's nothing more horrifying than a grumble of maggots crawling on rotting meat in a wet dumpster.

Whether you love them, or they're bugging you (sorry, had to), bugs are everywhere.

Sometimes they’re harmful; sometimes we need them.

We can learn a lot from them, and we’re a lot like them!

Okay, yes, technically bugs are insects whose mouthparts are adapted for piercing and sucking juices.

But colloquially, and for the purposes of this workshop, the term 'bug' can refer to any small creepy/crawly creature: ticks, spiders, mosquitos, worms, dragonflies, etc. Writers use bugs in many ways, including to represent themes like cooperation, persistence, resourcefulness, luck, insignificance, or decay.

In this workshop, we’ll start by reading a couple of bug-themed poems.

We’ll look for bugs on a trail walk (approx.

1 mile) that incorporates observation activities.

Participants will have time to observe bugs, relax in nature, and write our own poems inspired by bugs based on themed prompts.

Then we’ll have the chance to share our experiences and/or writing at the end.

This program is free if you are a member of Dot Rx.
