The Mockingbird Festival is free and open to the public. Festival-goers will enjoy an array of events, all inspired by themes brought forth in the novel, 'To Kill a Mockingbird,' set in the rural South of the 1930s.

Events will include a concert of traditional American spirituals, 1930s-style string music, storytelling, a mock trial, and more. This is part of The Big Read of Eastern Massachusetts, an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts, presented by WUMB Radio and UMass Boston.

The event concludes with a concert by noted songwriter Kate Campbell and finalists in the 'Mockingbird' songwriting contest; concert admission is $5; the festival is free. To attend, pre-register at www.wumb.org.
