Mass Farmers Markets is pleased to announce the Fourth Annual Strawberry Dessert Festival running from Friday June 10th through Sunday, July 3rd, 2011 at farm-friendly restaurants and eateries throughout Massachusetts. Restaurants, cafes, and bakeries across the Bay State will donate a percentage of proceeds from specially prepared strawberry-infused desserts to the Federation of Mass Farmers Markets (MFM). Mass Farmers Markets is the non-profit dedicated to supporting, promoting, and advocating for the over 230 farmers markets state-wide.
While highlighting the incredible taste of local, in-season berries, the Mass Farmers Markets Strawberry Dessert Festival also raises the funds MFM needs in order to sustain and strengthen the Massachusetts farmers market system. The Strawberry Dessert Festival has become a seasonal tradition for many Massachusetts diners thanks to the dedicated support of local chefs and restauranteurs.
This year, the event is expected to include more than 40 popular farm-friendly restaurants and eateries across Massachusetts. Chefs and bakers from each establishment will use locally grown fresh berries to create tasty strawberry desserts that should not be missed.
The list of participating restaurants and cafes continues to grow daily and will be available in May 2011 at www.strawberrydessertfestival.org. In the meantime, Mass Farmers Markets welcomes inquiries from prospective participants from all over Massachusetts.
Since its launch in 2008, the Strawberry Dessert Festival has steadily grown in popularity and in the number of participating restaurants. In 2010, the event doubled the amount of funds raised compared to 2009. Mass Farmers Markets staff, board, and allies are hoping for the same success in 2011. All proceeds will go directly to benefit and maintain farmers markets in Massachusetts.
