Schools for Children, Inc. (www.schoolsforchildreninc.org) in Arlington, MA, is hosting the only Boston-area screening of the acclaimed new documentary called 'Race To Nowhere' on October 4th at the Regent Theatre at 7:00 pm. This film has been called the 'Inconvenient Truth' of American education.
Directed by Vicki Abeles, the film explores the culture of hollow achievement and pressure to perform that has invaded America’s schools, feeding an epidemic of unprepared, disengaged, and unhealthy students and the price our kids pay for this “race to nowhere.” Author-educators Alfie Kohn and Richard Weissbourd will be on hand for a post-film conversation. (Check out their websites for more info, including their books).
Tickets are now on sale at $10/each at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/124813
