Over 70 minutes, Access to the Danger Zone explores the strategies that Doctors Without Borders has employed to save lives in the world’s worst war zones, including Afghanistan, Somalia, and eastern Democratic Republic of Congo—strategies that are tested each and every day.
Interviews with key experts from Doctors Without Borders, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the United Nations are accompanied by dramatic footage shot in these countries in 2011 and 2012.
After working continuously in Somalia since 1991, Doctors Without Borders was forced to close all of its medical programs in the country in August 2013.
In response to what became an intolerable series of attacks against its staff and facilities over the years, the organization made the difficult decision to withdraw from Somalia, illustrating the profound challenges of maintaining humanitarian access, and underscoring the timeliness and relevance of this film.
Join us following the screening for a Q&A with local Doctors Without Borders aid workers, who will share stories from their overseas assignments.
The film screening is free, fully accessible, and open to the public.
