The film, Lassie, will open Christmas Day for a 2:00pm. matinee, followed by daily 2:00pm matinees through December 28, 2006. Set in pre-World War I England, this beautifully made retelling of the classic border collie story stars Peter O’Toole, Peter Dinklage and Samantha Morton.

The Music Hall is thrilled to include Lassie in the KidsRULE! series, which celebrates the magic of childhood. And, what better film than Lassie to do that and to see it in on the big screen in our 900-seat historic theatre dressed up for the holidays?

Lassie, rated PG and running one hour and 40 minutes will appear at The Music Hall Monday, December 25 - Thursday, December 28 at 2:00 p.m. Matinee tickets are $6 and can be purchased at The Music Hall box office (28 Chestnut St., Portsmouth), on the phone at (603) 436-2400.

About Lassie
'Lassie Come-Home' - the story of a loyal collie who crossed hundreds of miles of rough terrain to return home to the boy she loved – was a short story written by Eric Knight in 1938. In 1940, it was published as a full length best selling book. MGM released the hugely successful film Lassie Come Home in 1943, featuring two young stars, Roddy McDowell and Elizabeth Taylor.

In 1947 the Lassie radio show hit the air waves, followed by the 1954 premier of the television show which ran for the next 17 years, winning Emmys for 'Best Children's TV show' in 1954 and 1955.

Willy Wonka, The Dallas Children’s Theater’s Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fair(l)y (stoopid) Tales, and The Frog Bride.

Coming up in the series is Captain Louie on March 24, 2007 (“a charming child’s-size slice of Broadway” NYTimes) and an encore performance by Dan Zanes and Friends on May 5, 2007 (“one of those rare children’s concerts where the grownups clearly had as much fun as their toddlers.” Boston Herald.)
