Mark your calendars for a North Shore community event — the showing of the newly-released Ken Burns film, “Defying the Nazis: The Sharps’ War.” This documentary tells the story of the little-known but important mission undertaken by Rev.
Waitstill Sharp and his wife Martha, who left their home and children behind in Wellesley to rescue refugees and dissidents in Europe before and during World War II.
This is a powerful documentary which draws undeniable comparisons to the refugee crisis we are facing today.
Tom Hanks is the voice of Waitstill Sharp.
The film is 1 hour 30 minutes in length and will be followed by a brief discussion.
Light refreshments will be served.
This event is free and open to the public.
