Shutter Island Movie Screening at Medfield State Hospital
We'll be screening the film in a pop-up drive-in style set up! Tickets are $65 per car (not per person), in order for us to cover set-up costs. These events are rain or shine.
Upon arrival, you will park in the field near the entrance of Medfield State Hospital where the screen will be set up and view the films from your vehicle.
We do encourage you to arrive early if you would like to walk the grounds of Medfield State Hospital before the film begins at sundown.
Prior to each screening, audiences will hear from John Thompson, Chairman of Medfield State Hospital Buildings and Grounds, who will discuss the historical context of the site and how it compares to the “Ashecliffe Hospital” it depicts in the film.
Concessions
Popcorn, candy, and soda will be available at a Coolidge Corner Theatre concession stand via credit or debit card purchase only. There will also be local Medfield mobile food units on site for each screening:
Friday, June 18: Ribpublic BBQ , C&C Ice Cream Truck
Saturday, June 19: The Hot Dog Wagon, C&C Ice Cream Truck
We’ll be projecting the film onto a 40 foot inflatable screen using state of the art equipment provided by Boston Light and Sound.
You’ll be surrounded by the sprawling complex of what was formerly known as the Medfield Insane Asylum while seeing its many buildings featured prominently in Scorsese’s mind-bending psychological thriller.
A portion of the proceeds from these screenings will be utilized for the care and maintenance of Medfield State Hospital.
