The event is a family-friendly celebration revolving around honey in anticipation of the upcoming Jewish New Year. The program will offer a demonstration of how honey is made by a local beekeeper. This educational experience will serve as a vehicle to bring 'life' and excitement into the observance of this special holiday.
Participants will discover the significance of the traditions of the holiday such as dipping an apple in honey and the commandment to hear the Shofar (rams horn). Each child will have the opportunity to create their own decorative honey dish to use at the Rosh Hashanah table and to take a crash course in shofar blowing. Adults and children alike will enjoy tasting different varieties of honey.
Reseska Apiaries will be sampling their “Golden Meadow” honey and Rabbi Mendy & Chanie Krinsky will be on hand to answer questions about preparing for and observing the Jewish High Holidays.
