The line up for New Stars for Young Stars VI includes: Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Red Sox 2010 Rookie of the Year Ryan Kalish, Red Sox outfielders Darnell McDonald and Daniel Nava, minor league all-star third baseman Will Middlebrooks, 2010 Red Sox minor league base runner of the year Jeremy Hazelbaker, and this year’s special guest Bill Mueller, a member of the 2004 World Series Champion Red Sox and the 2003 American League batting champion. *This list of players is subject to change and additional players will be announced.
Tickets are on sale at jimmyfund.org/new-stars. Regular admission tickets are $99 each. MVP tickets are $250 and include an official MLB Red Sox jersey, plus one of the first 35 spots in line. All ticket holders can bring one guest, but only the ticket holder may receive autographs. A buffet lunch will be served and sports memorabilia will be on sale. In addition, there will be an opportunity drawing, silent auction, and bowling to help strike out cancer.
New Stars for Young Stars VI is hosted by the Jimmy Fund Council of Greater Boston and has quickly become a popular event for Red Sox fans, already raising more than $130,000 since its inception in 2006.
Jimmy Fund Councils are groups of dedicated volunteers who act as ambassadors in their communities for the Jimmy Fund. The councils promote Dana-Farber’s mission and host fundraisers to support the Jimmy Fund.
The Jimmy Fund supports Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, helping to raise funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research and improve the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world. It is an official charity of the Boston Red Sox, as well as the official charity of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association, the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge, and the Variety Children's Charity of New England. Since 1948, the generosity of millions of people has helped the Jimmy Fund (www.jimmyfund.org) save countless lives and reduce the burden of cancer.
