Proceeds from the Mass Dash will benefit the Jimmy Fund, which supports adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Last year’s event raised more than $100,000 for the Jimmy Fund.
It is expected that 100 teams, composed of 6 to 12 people each, will start at the base of Mount Greylock (the highest point in Massachusetts) on Saturday morning and race to the finish at Boston Harbor. UMass-Amherst will serve as the halfway point and the runners will cross the Winsor Dam at the Quabbin Reservoir in the middle of the night. A post-race party will be held on the lawn at UMass-Boston overlooking Boston Harbor.
A two day team adventure race established in memory of Neal Webber, a Longmeadow resident who succumbed to prostate cancer in 2008, the Mass Dash brings together hundreds of runners, sharing their time, their thoughts and themselves, while racing across Massachusetts. These runners are all dedicated to raising awareness and funds to support family, friends and neighbors in the fight against cancer.
